The OPA officers cycle through the offices. Every two years, the Association elects a new Secretary-Treasurer, who serves a two year term and then becomes the Vice President, and the Vice President ascends to the Presidency. If an officer is unable or unwilling to complete the six-year term of service, the Association would hold an extra election to fill the vacated office.
"The duties of the President shall be those usually belonging to this office. This includes selecting a keynote speaker for the annual meeting and serving as the liaison between the Association and the institution hosting its annual meeting."
"The Vice-President shall, in addition to their usual duties, serve as the program chair for the annual meeting. This involves soliciting papers for presentation, identifying referees, selecting papers for presentation, and completing the program."
"The Secretary-Treasurer shall collect and disburse funds of the Association and present an audited report at each annual meeting. They shall maintain the Association’s email list and prepare a list of all voting members of the Association prior to each annual meeting."
The OPA webmaster maintains the OPA website. This is an appointed position.
